In addition to the visits that address the history of the hat industry, its technical and technological developments and also the production of hats, the museum has thematic visits with specific educational and cultural objectives.
These visits are intended to be  pedagogical instruments, mainly, for schools, however they can be booked by any group type.

THE MAGICAL WORLD OF HATS

For those who have never visited the Hat Museum we recommend the general tour about the magical world of the hats production. This visit begins even before you enter the Museum, near the statue of the "Black Nails“. 
Here, visitors will listen the great history of these men and women and of the industry that marked the Portuguese industrialization in the beginning of the last century.

In a fun and interactive way children are invited to discover the manufacturing process of the felt hat. During this visit, participants will be challenged in their creativity and imagination and will have sensory access to raw materials, tools and machinery.

A CITY OF HATS

The visit begins with an approach to local history through which is made a contextualization about the social, economic and cultural importance of hat industry in Portugal.
At a later stage, visitors are faced with the technological evolution of this industry, from the most artisanal stage until present day. This type of visit is complemented with a workshop.

In this visit we want to understand the Portuguese process of industrialization and the subsequent transformation of human and geographic territories. This visit can be complemented with a visit to hat factories still in working.

MUSEOLOGIST FOR JUST ONE DAY

The Heritage Education is fundamental for the preservation of cultural heritage. In this visit, the visitors will learn about principles of preventive conservation and restoration and its practical application.
It is intended to raise the awareness of the visitor for the importance of cultural heritage in order to promote the development of responsible and participative citizens.
