LONG TERM EXHIBITION
From the fur to the Hat! This is the magic world of the “Black Nails”.
Divided into seven different areas and distributed by 3 floors, this exhibition shows the long and entangled history of the production of a hat. Machines, tools, raw materials and several testimonies from former hatters will help you understand how a hat is made.

EXHIBITIONS OF SOCIAL USES
The exhibitions of Social Uses are entirely dedicated to the hats, the fashion accessory that is able to speak about so many cultural, social, identity and economic questions.
The challenge of the temporary exhibitions shown in this area, is help understand the History and small stories hidden in the hats of the museum collection and the stories about the people who wear them.

TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS
LUÍS STOFFEL. THE MILLINERY ART.
from 21st May 2022 to 30th april 2023
The temporary exhibition room at the Hat Museum presents, for the first time, the collection of a national hat maker, Luís Stoffel.
They are hats, headdresses, fascinators, sculptural headpieces and masks, some created specifically for this exhibition and others that will integrate the museum’s collection.

Know the history of the founder of Empresa Industrial de Chapelaria who, in 1914, transformed this industry.
