LUÍSA REIS CABRAL. A WOMAN AHEAD OF YOUR TIME

from 29th May until 31st December 2020

Luísa Reis Cabral was a hat designer for over 40 years.

Born in 1907, in Lisbon, in the midst of a humble family, Luísa Reis Cabral learned the art of sewing very early and, at the age of 14, started as an apprentice in a hat making workshop located in Chiado.

During the next 40 years, she made the most diverse types of hats for all occasions, reaching clients as a large part of Lisbon’s social elite, including the mother of Pinto Balsemão and the Duchess of Cadaval.

Luísa Reis Cabral was an elegant and tasteful woman who always sought to innovate and produce the best and most updated models of hats.

Shortly after the Second World War, in 1946, he traveled to Paris to find out about the news that simmered in the city of lights and since then, he hasn’t stopped making hats that would surprise his clients.

Luísa Reis Cabral passed away at the age of 102.

This exhibition is a tribute to a lifetime dedicated to hats.
